TURTLE 1

YOU CAN MAKE IT YOURSELF!

EDM machines for micromachining cost more than 300,000 Euros in the market.

They are too expensive for several applications, for example, machining small number of parts for R&D and student exercises in schools and universities.

TURTLE 1 is a specialized machine for such applications targeting for low cost, simple structure and easy manual operation.

This machine is offered in a semi-kit style and you will fabricate it yourself.

Fabricating TURTLE 1 will be also a good training to know what micro-EDM is.

It will be the first time for you to fabricate an EDM machine. But, the developer's on-the-job instruction guides you to a 100% success of completing the machine.

* Extraordinarily low cost!
Parts kit excluding a microscope costs only JPY550,000. This also covers the fee for the on-the-job instruction. Additional cost consists of the instructor's travelling cost and the cost of the microscope. A particular type of microscope is necessary. It is sold for about JPY 92,000 in Japan (Jan., 2014).

[For Korea, the price of the kit including the instruction fee and travelling cost is JPY 500,000.]
[Specially for Korea, a wired kit is also available. The price is JPY 700,000. With this kit, no wiring/machining work is required in fabrication.

*ø50µm holes are machinable!
You can machine straight, burr-free microholes in almost all metals and alloys.

* As easy operation as with a conventional, mechanical drilling machine!
No experience of EDM is necessary. Just turn the knob to feed and control the electrode. Gap status (open, discharge or short-circuit) is easily recognized with the sound from a loudspeaker and with LED light.

*Extraordinarily small size and weight!
Width: 300 mm, Depth: 250 mm, Height: 350 mm, Total weight: 6 kg. You can put it on an office desk and operate it.

*Extraordinarily low power consumption!
It consumes only about 6 VA (220V/100V, 60Hz).

*Easy confirmation of produced microholes!
The machine is combined with a microscope facility. You can easily check whether a through-hole is completed, without removing the work piece from the machine table. You can also take pictures of the microhole with your handy digital camera. (Some cameras are not suitable for this application.)

*Fabrication in 2 days!
One person can fabricate TURTLE 1 in 2 days in average. No machine tool is necessary. Basic skills of soldering and filing will be enough for the fabrication.

In the countries or locations where the designated microscope (Nicon, YS100) cannot be obtained, there may be difficult cases.

2. Details of the necessary component (microscope), tools and costs are informed.

3. Signing the ordering sheet.

4. Your purchase of the microscope. (There may be the cases that you further need to buy yourself some tools for DIY work.)

5. Adjustment of the date for fabrication.

6. Fabrication. The instructor will be beside you and help you throughout the fabrication process.

7. Payment of the parts-kit (including the instruction fee) and the instructor's travelling cost.
